It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our beloved “Queen of Fort Erie,” jockey Francine Villeneuve. A trailblazing pioneer, fierce competitor, and true ambassador of our sport, Francine will never be forgotten at Fort Erie Race Track.
She etched her name in the record books by securing her 1,000th career win on our track; a milestone that cemented her legacy as the first Canadian female jockey to reach that extraordinary mark. Her grace, determination, and love for the game inspired generations of riders and fans alike.
Rest in peace, Francine. You will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Congratulations to Patrick Husbands on a legendary career and a well-deserved retirement. From that unforgettable day at Fort Erie in 2003 when you and Wando launched the Canadian Triple Crown sweep, you’ve been one of racing’s true greats. Thank you for the memories and all the thrilling rides. Enjoy this next chapter!
