Manitoba Sports Betting

Sports betting first became available online and at land-based retailers in 2013. Following the legalization of single-event sports betting in Canada in August 2021, MBLL expanded PlayNow Sports to offer single-game bets, live betting, and a wider variety of markets. PlayNow Sports is the only provincially regulated online sportsbook available to Manitobans. Retail sports betting is available at select lottery retailers.

Manitoba has confirmed it has no plans to move to an open iGaming model like Ontario's or Alberta's. At MBLL's October 2025 public annual meeting, the CEO stated that PlayNow generates more gaming revenue per capita for Manitoba than Ontario's open market generates for that province, and that an open model would divert revenue outside the province.
