Prince Edward Island Charitable Gaming

The PEI Lotteries Commission, under the Department of Finance and Affordability, is the primary licensing authority for charitable gaming in Prince Edward Island. Upon approval, all charitable gaming activities and events must be operated by a charitable or religious organization.

Forms of charitable gaming include bingo, raffles, break-open tickets and Monte Carlo events.

As of June 30, 2026, charitable lotteries in PEI are now governed by the newly enacted Charitable Lotteries Act and the Charitable Lotteries Regulations, which replace the former Lottery Schemes Order. The new Act modernizes the licensing process, maintains the existing requirement that only charitable or religious organizations may hold licences, and updates compliance and enforcement provisions.
