Saskatchewan Charitable Gaming

The Charitable Gaming Licensing Branch of Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) oversees bingo, raffles, break-open tickets, poker tournaments and Monte Carlo (casino night) events. All gaming must be conducted by qualified charitable and religious organizations under license from the SLGA.

In July 2006, the Saskatchewan government legalized Texas Hold'em tournaments and Monte Carlo nights for charitable organizations to raise extra money. In recent years, charities have seen declines in gaming-related revenue, which has prompted the government to set up a strategy to help, including relaxed rules for charities.
