New Brunswick Lotteries
In addition to being a shareholder in the ALC, the NBLGC is also a shareholder in the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC). The ALC handles and markets the products of the ILC. The ILC is a jointly owned corporation of the 10 Canadian provinces. Its products include “Lotto Max” and “Lotto 6/49” – both of which are national lottery games.
Although operated by the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, Casino City considers VLTs to be a casino and card room gaming activity.
In April 2010, the responsible gaming policy for the VLT program was reformed. Changes included restriction of VLTs to age-controlled environments, a 50% reduction of the number of VLT sites in New Brunswick (from 625 sites to a maximum of 300 sites) and a 25% reduction of the number of VLTs in the province (from 2,650 to a maximum of 2,000 terminals). The number of VLTs allowed at each site was also changed, and an annual registration fee implemented.
