Quebec Casino and Card Room Gaming

Created in 1992, the Société des casinos du Québec oversees the operations of all casinos located in Québec: Casino de Montréal, Casino de Charlevoix, Casino du Lac-Leamy and Casino de Mont-Tremblant. Québec has both slot machines and video lottery terminals (VLTs). Slot machines are only permitted at casinos, whereas VLTs are allowed at racinos and other establishments.

In 1993, Loto-Québec was permitted by the provincial government to establish a video lottery that would be regulated by the Société des loteries video du Québec.

Loto-Québec's Société des casinos du Québec (SCQ) subsidiary oversees the operations of the province's casinos. All casinos are smoke-free establishments per legislation passed in 2004.

In July 2007, a new law was approved legalizing Texas Hold'em in the province.

In May 2013, the government of Québec approved a measure allowing alcohol to be served at gaming tables and slot machines at Québec's casinos.

Although regulated by the Société des loteries video du Québec, Casino City considers VLTs to be a casino and card room gaming activity.
